Extended Day is our "home away from home" for working parents that need full time care. (Opening at 7 a.m. and closing at 5 p.m.)
The curriculum for all programs is planned "age appropriate," and includes science, story time, music, and crafts. Activities are provided that use large and small motor skills, geared to specific developmental areas. With the whole child in mind, we promote growth socially, intellectually, spiritually and emotionally. An atmosphere of love is created by a compassionate staff that fosters Christian attitudes more "caught" than "taught."
In the area of early childhood education "Small World" is considered a Christian outreach with an emphasis on Christian love.
Personnel are chosen with the understanding that our faith shows in our lives and is generally "caught" rather than "taught". The staff enjoys creating an environment of:
- Fun without destruction;
- Learning to take turns and share; and
- Discovering the world of the child.
"Small World" is a branch of the Education Commission under the auspices of the Board of Trustees at the Santa Clarita United Methodist Church.
>Philosophy
"Small World" Preschool provides an atmosphere of free "play". Activities are geared to specific areas of development indicative of children's own individual "small worlds" constantly striving to make their own "small world" bigger, better and of benefit to them. Small World" Preschool welcomes children of every race, color and creed.
