Special Events & Activities SCUMC Full Calendar Save the Date!! Confirmation Class -The organization meeting for this year’s Confirmation Class will be on January 29, at 11:00 a.m. in the Junior High Room. All youth grades 7-12 who are interested in exploring the Christian faith and/or joining the United Methodist church are invited to be a part of the class. This is your chance to ask questions you’ve always wanted to ask. This first meeting will be the chance for you to choose your Friend-in-Faith, decide on meeting times, and begin your journey with your parents. Even if your parents can’t attend, please plan on coming to the meeting so the class can get organized. This year the class will be led by Pastor Melissa, Bill Walker, Youth Director and Candy Holsenbeck-Smith, Christian Ed Director. You can get registered by contacting any of these people Music Ministries – Now is a great time to join one of our wonderful music programs. We have vocal groups for adults, children and youth and handbell groups for adults and children & youth. If you are interested in joining any of our awesome groups, just show up at their rehearsals or call the church office for more information, 297-3783. Look at the calendar on the back to see when rehearsals are happening! Monday Night Tutoring 6:00 -8:00 p.m. for all school age children K-12. This program is open to any child who is in need of some help with their homework and is offered with no cost to the families. Volunteers are needed to facilitate this program. Please see Candy at the Education table to sign up or ask questions about this outreach to our members and the community. Join a Small Group We have a number of small groups available at Santa Clarita UMC that provide an opportunity for fellowship while developing interests and friendships. It is one of the best ways to get connected to your church family by getting involved. Share your time, gifts, talents and Good News! Check out the September 18 issue of the Circuit Rider for a list of all the groups that currently meet and if you don’t see something that interests you, talk with Pastor Melissa about forming a new group.
Feeling Hungry and have a Desire to donate money to the Church??? If so, just pick up a card from the Church Narthex or Church office and go to one of the following places: Mom & Pop's Deli - International Market, 26893 Bouquet Cyn Road, Saugus (next to Goodwill) or the Persia Restaurant located at 26877 Bouquet Cyn Road, Saugus. Either place will donate 10% of your check back to our United Methodist Church. Take a few extra cards and pass them out to your friends. Enjoy and eat out often.
Fellowship *Mom 'N' Me - Fridays,- Fridays, 2:30 p.m., Nursery. This is basically a play group for your children and a support group for the mommies. For information call Amy Dell, 250-9363 or the church office, 297-3783. |
This Month the Food Pantry Needs Canned meats (chili, tuna, spam, etc.) and mac ‘n cheese. Another item needed is cereal. The families are always thrilled when they can receive cereal for the kids. When you do your shopping, please consider picking up one or more of these items and bring it to the barrel in the Narthex
